Description
Nine ouds in this catalogue and eight of them are orientals saffron, rose, incense, amber. Code 1231 is the exception: a plain woody built around oud, with six materials and nothing decorative. It is the one to choose for a Western market that finds oriental construction unfamiliar.
Bergamot and lemon open it simply and brightly. No saffron, no spice just citrus, which immediately signals a different kind of composition from the rest of the oud range.
Oud and cedar form the heart. Cedar is dry and pencil-like, and against the oud it reads as wood rather than as resin the fragrance is about timber rather than about incense and flowers.
Amber and vetiver close it warm and earthy. Six materials in total. This is the most accessible oud in the range for a customer unfamiliar with Middle Eastern perfumery, because it is structured like a Western woody fragrance that happens to contain oud.
