Description
This is the richest gourmand in the catalogue and the most technically ambitious. Honey, praline and caramel are all difficult materials each of them tips into cheapness easily and 1222 holds them in balance with lavender, rose and patchouli. If you want one indulgent, high-impact gourmand in the range, this is it.
The opening is unusual: angelica and lavender against honey. Angelica brings a green, slightly bitter herbal edge and lavender an aromatic coolness, and together they stop honey from smelling sticky in the first minutes honey is one of the hardest notes in perfumery for exactly that reason.
The heart is praline chocolate with rose. Chocolate gives the composition its indulgence; rose keeps it from becoming a dessert. The base then does something clever patchouli underneath the vanilla and caramel. Patchouli is earthy and slightly camphorous, and it cuts the sweetness so the drydown stays interesting for hours rather than becoming flat sugar.
High-impact and long-lasting, this is a cold-weather fragrance with very strong sillage. Use a lighter hand than you would with a simpler gourmand.
