Description
This is the third oud in the range and the most contemporary of them. Where 1002 is sweet and 1154 is dry and traditional, 1233 is the modern niche interpretation: pink pepper at the top and incense in the heart, which gives it a smoky, almost ecclesiastical character that reads as European niche rather than Middle Eastern classical.
Bergamot and pink pepper open it with a bright, faceted sparkle pink pepper is the signature opening of contemporary niche perfumery and it immediately signals a modern composition. The heart pairs rose with incense: the incense is what makes this oil distinctive, adding a dry, resinous smoke that gives the rose gravity rather than prettiness.
Oud and amber finish it, warm and resinous, with the incense still detectable underneath. The result is polished and slightly austere a fragrance for a brand positioning itself as contemporary and considered.
