Description
Code 1248 is a fresh men's fragrance with a green rather than aquatic character closer to cut grass and crushed leaves than to the sea. Ready-mixed and bottled as supplied, it is a straightforward everyday scent with more character than a standard blue fresh.
Lemon verbena opens it: lemony, herbal and slightly sweet, brighter and softer than plain lemon. Violet leaf in the heart is the signature sharp, green and slightly metallic, very different from the sweet violet flower.
Sandalwood and ambergris form the base. The sandalwood adds a creamy, woody backbone; the ambergris a warm, salty-skin ambery tone that keeps the green from feeling thin. Clean, masculine and easy to wear.

Questions about this oil
Does violet leaf smell like violets?
No. Violet leaf is green, sharp and slightly cucumber-like, nothing like the sweet, powdery flower. It is what makes 1248 smell green.
Does it contain real ambergris?
Ambergris in modern perfumery is almost always an accord built from aroma materials such as ambroxan. If you mention it in marketing, "ambergris accord" is the safer wording.
Is it a summer fragrance?
It is at its best in warm weather, but the ambery base gives it enough presence for year-round daytime wear.
How does it compare with 1263 Aquatic Sea Salt Amber?
Both are fresh with an ambery base. 1248 is green and herbal; 1263 is marine and salty.
