Description
Vetiver is one of the pillars of classical masculine perfumery a root material with a smoky, earthy, slightly grapefruit-like character that has anchored serious men's fragrance for a century. Every other oil in this range uses it as a supporting note. Code 1107 makes it the subject.
Bergamot, lemon and mint open it bright and cool, a traditional citrus-aromatic entry that has not needed improving in seventy years. Cedar, ginger and incense build the heart: ginger adds dry heat, incense a thread of smoke, and cedar begins the woody structure the fragrance will land on.
Vetiver is the base, with sandalwood and patchouli beside it. Good vetiver is complex smoky, earthy, faintly citric and a little bitter and it is the material most responsible for a fragrance smelling grown-up. Sandalwood softens it, patchouli reinforces the earth.
This is a fragrance for a customer who does not want fruit, sweetness or aquatic freshness. It is the most traditionally masculine oil in the catalogue and a dependable core SKU for a classic range.
