Description
Myrrh Essential oil carries associations no other material does ceremonial, ancient, faintly medicinal and it gives a fragrance gravity immediately. It is also one of the few materials with a built-in seasonal selling story, which makes 1228 a natural Christmas and gift-range product.
Lavender and tonka bean open it warm and soft, which is a deliberate misdirection nothing here prepares you for the resin.
Myrrh and incense arrive in the heart. Myrrh is balsamic, bitter and slightly medicinal, with a dry sweetness underneath; incense adds smoke. Together they produce the unmistakable smell of a church or a temple, and that association does a great deal of marketing work on its own.
Vanilla and sandalwood finish it, softening the resin into something wearable rather than austere. Long-lasting, warm and quietly serious it works as a fragrance and exceptionally well as a candle.

Questions about this oil
What does myrrh smell like?
Balsamic, bitter and slightly medicinal with a dry sweetness underneath. Combined with incense it produces the recognisable smell of a church or temple.
Why is it good for seasonal ranges?
Myrrh and incense carry strong ceremonial and Christmas associations, which gives a gift product a story before anyone has smelled it.
Does it work in candles?
Exceptionally. Resin and incense profiles are among the best-selling winter and gift candle fragrances.
Is it wearable as a perfume?
Yes the vanilla and sandalwood base softens the resin considerably. It is serious rather than austere.
How does it compare with 1233 Oriental Rose Oud?
1233 uses incense inside a rose-oud composition. 1228 is resin-led, with no oud and no rose — quieter, warmer and more ceremonial.
