Description
Tonka bean in the heart of an oud is an unusual decision, and it changes the fragrance completely. Code 1181 is the softest and most gourmand-leaning oud in the catalogue, ideal for customers who like the idea of oud but find more traditional styles too austere.
Rose and saffron form the top notes, opening warm and slightly leathery. A touch of Turkish rose gives the opening a richer floral character before the heart notes of oud and tonka bean take over, softening the resinous wood with almond, hay and vanilla-like warmth.
Vanilla and sandalwood create the creamy base notes, giving the fragrance a smooth, long finish. Among the oud profiles in the range, this is the sweetest and most approachable.

Which of your ouds is the most approachable?
This one. Tonka in the heart softens the oud further than the vanilla in 1002 does, making it the sweetest and easiest of the five ouds in the range.
What does tonka do to an oud?
Tonka is almond, hay and vanilla at once. Placed directly against oud it softens the wood's resinous bitterness into something almost edible.
How should I position the five ouds?
1181 as the entry point, 1002 next, then 1154 for traditional, 1233 for contemporary niche and 1105 for the luxury tier. Each listing links to the others.
Is it suitable for body cream?
Yes soft sweet ouds perform well in body care, better than the drier ones in the range.
Will it discolour?
Yes oud, tonka and vanilla are dark materials. Expect an amber tint.
