Description
Cherry is the note that has driven more fragrance launches in recent seasons than any other, and a good cherry accord is now close to essential for a brand selling to a younger audience. Code 1007 is our gourmand cherry: sweet and edible without tipping into cough-syrup territory, which is where most cheap cherry accords fail
The opening is cherry with bitter almond the pairing is deliberate. Almond supplies the marzipan facet that makes cherry read as a dessert rather than a fruit drink, and it is what separates an expensive-smelling gourmand from a cheap one. Turkish rose and jasmine in the heart do the quiet structural work: they add a floral spine that stops the sweetness becoming one-dimensional over the first hour.
The base is where it earns repeat orders. Vanilla and tonka bean give the creamy, comforting drydown buyers expect from a gourmand, and Peru balsam adds a resinous, slightly smoky warmth that gives the composition depth and real staying power. On fabric it lasts for days.

Does it smell like cherry sweets?
No that is the failure mode of a cheap cherry accord. The bitter almond gives it a marzipan, black-cherry-dessert character rather than a sugary confectionery smell, and the rose and jasmine in the heart keep it from being one-dimensional.
Is it too sweet for a men's fragrance?
It is classed as unisex and sells across both. The Peru balsam and tonka in the base give it a resinous warmth that keeps it wearable for men, particularly at lower dosages.
What is the best format for a gourmand oil?
Eau de parfum and body mist perform best, but gourmands sell disproportionately well in body cream and hair mist worth building into the range.
Does it discolour a finished product?
Vanilla and Peru balsam are naturally darker materials, so expect a light amber tint. Sample at your target dosage before committing to clear packaging.
