Description
Cognac is the refined side of the boozy gourmand category. Unlike rum, which is darker and more molasses-heavy, cognac brings a drier, woodier and more mature character. This depth creates a distinctive scent throw with a sophisticated warm profile.
Cinnamon and cognac open the fragrance together, creating a warm and spirituous introduction. The cognac accord has a fruity, slightly sharp character with a woody edge that immediately suggests aged spirits.
Praline and sandalwood form the heart, where the fragrance moves into gourmand territory. Praline adds caramelised nuttiness, while sandalwood provides a creamy woody layer that connects the sweetness with the spirit-like opening.
Oak, vanilla and tonka form the base, with oak reinforcing the barrel-aged cognac impression. The result is a warm, long-lasting and unmistakably mature fragrance with a smooth gourmand finish.

Questions about this oil
Does it contain alcohol?
No. The cognac accord is a perfumery reconstruction it smells of the spirit but the oil is alcohol-free, like everything in this range.
How does it compare with 1140 Rum Chocolate?
1140 is darker, sweeter and more indulgent rum, chocolate and coffee. 1016 is drier and more refined, with oak and praline. 1140 for gifting, 1016 for a mature everyday fragrance.
Why oak in the base?
It reads as barrel wood and ties the drydown back to the cognac in the opening, so the composition feels like a single idea rather than a sequence of notes.
Is it too sweet for men?
No. The oak, sandalwood and cinnamon keep it dry, and it is one of the better gourmands in the range for a male customer.
Does it work in candles?
Very well boozy and barrel-wood profiles are strong autumn and gift-season candle sellers.
