Description
Cumin is the most divisive material in perfumery. Used carelessly it can read as body odour; used well it gives a fragrance a warm, skin-like intimacy that few materials achieve. Code 1208 uses it carefully, making it one of the most mature compositions in the catalogue.
Cinnamon, coriander and cumin open together, with coriander balancing the sweetness of cinnamon and the warmth of cumin. Osmanthus and orchid form the heart, bringing apricot, suede and soft floral richness that lift the spice into something more refined and perfumed.
White musk and sandalwood close it clean and creamy. The sandalwood oil character gives the drydown a smooth, skin-close warmth, while Santalum album is the classic sandalwood species associated with this rich, creamy woody profile.

Questions about this oil
Is cumin risky in a fragrance?
It is the most divisive material in perfumery used carelessly it reads as body odour. Used carefully, as here, it gives a warm, skin-like intimacy nothing else achieves. Always test on a panel before committing to a production run.
Should I use a lower dosage?
Yes 15–20% rather than the usual 20–25%. Cumin becomes dominant quickly and the composition is balanced at the lower end.
Who should stock it?
A brand confident enough to sell something genuinely unusual, as a signature or limited-edition piece. It is not a core SKU.
What stops the cumin taking over?
The coriander mediates between cinnamon and cumin in the opening, and the osmanthus and orchid heart lifts the spice into something perfumed rather than culinary.
Does cinnamon restrict the dosage further?
Cinnamon materials carry IFRA restrictions in leave-on products and declarable allergens. Your certificate gives the exact limits.
