Description
Angelica is a green, bitter and faintly musky root used in gin as well as perfumery, and it appears in almost nothing else. Putting it beside oud in the opening gives this fragrance a dry herbal bitterness that none of the other ouds in the range has.
Oud and angelica open it together, with no citrus. Angelica’s green bitterness cuts through the oud’s resinous sweetness, creating an austere, slightly medicinal opening. Sandalwood and vetiver form the heart, moving the fragrance from bitter green into warmer, earthier smoky wood.
Tonka bean and amber close it warm and soft. With only six materials in total, the structure is simple, and the contrast from bitter herbal oud to a softer woody-amber drydown is what defines the fragrance.
