Description
Marine fragrances are usually simple salt, citrus, light woods. Code 1004 complicates the formula in two ways: iris in the heart, which is almost unheard of in an aquatic, and driftwood in the base, which gives it a weathered, salted character no ordinary cedar could.
Sea salt and bergamot open it mineral and clean. The salt accord is airy rather than heavy, and the bergamot keeps it bright.
Amber and iris form the heart, and this is the unusual part. Amber gives an aquatic warmth it would not normally have; iris gives it a cool, powdery refinement. Together they turn what would have been a simple marine scent into something considerably more interesting.
Musk cedarwood and driftwood close it. Driftwood is salted, sun-bleached and dry it extends the marine impression into the drydown instead of abandoning it which is the most common failing in this category. Sophisticated, unisex, and wearable year round.

Questions about this oil
What is driftwood in perfumery?
A salted, sun-bleached, dry woody accord. It extends a marine impression into the drydown rather than abandoning it, which is the most common failing in aquatic fragrances.
Why iris in a marine fragrance?
It is almost unheard of, and that is the appeal. Iris gives the composition a cool, powdery refinement that turns a simple marine scent into something more considered.
How does it compare with 1229 Crisp Sea Salt?
1229 is minimalist four materials, no warmth. 1004 is fuller, with amber and iris giving it body. 1229 for austerity, 1004 for a wearable coastal fragrance.
Is it seasonal?
Less than most marines. The amber and woods make it wearable year-round.
What positioning suits it?
Coastal, resort and hotel ranges, and any brand with a seaside identity.
What sizes and lead time?
100 g, 250 g, 500 g, 1000 g and 5000 g, shipped in 4–6 working days with IFRA certificate, allergen declaration and Safety Data Sheet.
