Description
Tonka and amber are both base materials by convention. Putting them at the heart front-loads the warmth, so 1156 becomes rich within minutes of application rather than after an hour — useful in retail, where a customer decides quickly.
Bergamot and saffron form the top note, with saffron’s leathery spice leading directly into the warmth. Tonka bean and amber create the heart note, bringing notes of almond, hay and vanilla with glowing resinous warmth and soft creamy notes.
Sandalwood, vanilla and cedar form the base note, continuing the same warm direction. The fragrance can be worn alone and develops beautifully with body heat, especially on the wrists, neck and pulse points.

Why are tonka and amber in the heart?
It front-loads the warmth so the fragrance is rich within minutes rather than after an hour. That is useful in retail, where a customer decides quickly.
How does it compare with 1067 Vanilla Tonka?
1067 is simpler and softer, built on vanilla and tonka over woods. 1156 adds saffron and amber, making it richer and more resinous.
Is it too simple?
It is one sustained warm accord rather than a developing composition. That is a strength for a comfort fragrance and a limitation for a signature one.
Which formats suit it?
Body cream, candles and gift sets. Warm amber gourmands sell strongly in all three.
Will it discolour?
Yes tonka, amber and vanilla are dark materials. Expect an amber tint.
