Description
Peony and lychee is the signature of the modern light floral dewy, slightly fruity, immediately fresh and it has been one of the most commercially successful feminine structures of the past twenty years. Code 1046 is the spring counterpart to the warmer florals in this range.
Peony opens it with lychee and freesia behind. Peony in perfumery is a constructed accord the flower yields nothing usable and it reads as crisp, watery and green-pink. Lychee is the material that makes it modern: sweet, slightly musky, a little exotic, and it stops the peony being merely pretty.
Rose and lily of the valley build the heart. Lily of the valley is green and dewy and has no natural extract either, so it too is reconstructed; together with the rose it gives the composition the impression of a fresh-cut bouquet rather than a single flower.
Cedar and amber finish it light and dry. There is no vanilla, no musk-heavy drydown that restraint is deliberate, and it is what keeps this readable as a fresh floral all the way through.

Questions about this oil
How does this differ from your other rose oils?
1011 is a true classic rose, 1116 a powdery modern rose. 1046 is not really a rose fragrance it is a light floral bouquet in which rose plays a supporting part. It is the freshest feminine oil in the range.
Is peony a natural material?
No. Peony yields no usable extract, so peony in perfumery is always a constructed accord. The same is true of lily of the valley in this composition.
Why lychee?
It gives the peony a sweet, slightly musky exotic edge and is the note that makes the composition read as modern rather than traditional.
Is it seasonal?
It peaks in spring and summer, though light florals sell year-round in body care and linen sprays.
Is it long-lasting?
Moderate the light cedar and amber base is deliberate, to keep the fresh character intact. For more longevity, add 1237 Iso E Super at 5–10%.
