Description
The citrus-lavender structure is the most reliable masculine formula there is. Code 1051 updates it with pink pepper at the top and patchouli in the base brighter at the start, earthier at the end, and noticeably more contemporary than the classical version.
Bergamot, mandarin and pink pepper open it. The pink pepper is the modernising material: rosy and faceted rather than hot, it is the signature opening of contemporary perfumery and it lifts the citrus without adding sharpness.
Lavender and geranium form the heart, the classical grooming accord lavender aromatic, geranium green and slightly rosy. This part is deliberately traditional and it anchors the fragrance in familiar territory.
Patchouli and cedar close it earthy and dry. Patchouli rather than amber or tonka is the second modernising decision, and it gives the drydown a depth the classical formula lacks. Only seven materials, and the balance between old and new is the whole idea.
