Description
Black truffle is the most unexpected material in this catalogue. It appears almost nowhere in commercial perfumery partly because it is difficult to use and partly because it is expensive and its presence on an ingredient list does something no marketing copy can: it signals a serious product before anyone has smelled it.
Saffron and rose open it in the classical oriental way, familiar and rich, giving no hint of what follows. Then truffle arrives in the heart alongside the oud. It is earthy, musky and slightly savoury closer to damp soil and skin than to anything sweet and it gives the rose-oud accord a shadowed, almost carnal quality that a conventional composition cannot reach.
Patchouli and vanilla finish it: patchouli reinforcing the earth, vanilla softening the whole thing so it stays wearable rather than becoming purely strange.
This is the oud to build a luxury tier around. It is more expensive-smelling than anything else in the range and the ingredient list justifies the price on its own.

Questions about this oil
What does black truffle smell like in a fragrance?
Earthy, musky and slightly savoury closer to damp soil and skin than to anything sweet. It gives the rose-oud accord a shadowed, sensual quality that a conventional composition cannot reach.
Is truffle used in commercial perfumery?
Rarely. It is difficult to balance and expensive, which is why it appears almost exclusively in niche and luxury compositions and why it is a genuine differentiator on your ingredient list.
Which of your oud oils is the most premium?
This one. 1002 is the accessible oud, 1154 the traditional, 1233 the contemporary niche 1105 is the luxury tier, and the truffle is what justifies the positioning.
Is it wearable or too unusual?
Wearable. The vanilla base keeps it grounded. It is darker and more sensual than the other ouds, not stranger.
Will it discolour?
Yes oud, patchouli and vanilla are all dark. Expect a deep amber tint and use tinted or opaque packaging.
