Description
Rose over earth is one of the most sophisticated ways to work with the flower. Code 1214 places it over patchouli and vetiver, with iris in between a structure close to the classical chypre, and the more feminine counterpart to 1073.
Mandarin and bergamot open it soft and bright, a gentle citrus entry that suits the fullness of what follows. Rose, jasmine and iris form the heart. Three florals, with iris supplying the cool powder that keeps the two richer notes in balance. This is a generous floral heart, more traditional than contemporary, and a refined expression among different rose varieties.
Patchouli, vetiver and vanilla close it. Patchouli and vetiver together are earthy and dry, pulling the rose into something more serious, while vanilla adds just enough warmth to keep the drydown comfortable. Formal, well structured and more grown up than most commercial rose fragrances.

How does it compare with 1073 Rose Patchouli?
1073 is unisex and drier, with neroli and no vanilla. 1214 is feminine and fuller, with three florals and a touch of vanilla. Both are chypre-adjacent; 1214 is the more wearable.
Which of your six roses should I stock?
1011 for a true classic rose, 1116 powdery-modern, 1230 crisp with geranium, 1083 velvet with raspberry, 1073 unisex chypre, 1214 formal and earthy. Most brands need two or three.
Why vetiver and patchouli under a rose?
They pull the flower down into something serious. Rose over earth is the most sophisticated construction you can use with the material.
