What is elemi?
A resin with a lemony, peppery brightness. It is rare in commercial fragrance because it is difficult to place, and prized in niche perfumery for the same reason.
How does it compare with 1135 Earthy Iris Vetiver?
1135 is unisex, with cocoa giving it a dry sweetness. 1043 is masculine and has no sweetness at all elemi and incense make it austere rather than distinctive-comfortable.
Is it too austere to sell?
For a mass-market range, probably. For a niche or architectural brand identity it is exactly right and the six-material ingredient list supports that story.
