Description
Elemi is a resin with a lemony, peppery brightness, rare in commercial fragrance and valued in niche perfumery for its unusual character. Code 1043 is a spare, serious composition built around this distinctive natural ingredient.
Bergamot and elemi form the top note, with elemi’s citrus-peppery facet enhancing the brightness while adding a resinous depth underneath. Iris and incense create the heart notes, combining cool powdery textures with dry smoky facets for a refined and austere character.
Vetiver and sandalwood form the base notes, bringing an earthy and creamy finish. The vetiver essence and roots of vetiver provide a dry natural depth, creating a skin-close drydown with no sweetness and a restrained masculine character.

Questions about this oil
What is elemi?
A resin with a lemony, peppery brightness. It is rare in commercial fragrance because it is difficult to place, and prized in niche perfumery for the same reason.
How does it compare with 1135 Earthy Iris Vetiver?
1135 is unisex, with cocoa giving it a dry sweetness. 1043 is masculine and has no sweetness at all elemi and incense make it austere rather than distinctive-comfortable.
Is it too austere to sell?
For a mass-market range, probably. For a niche or architectural brand identity it is exactly right and the six-material ingredient list supports that story.
Is it strong?
Close to the skin with moderate projection. Vetiver gives it good longevity.
What positioning suits it?
Minimalist, architectural and gallery-adjacent brands. It is the masculine counterpart to 1229 Crisp Sea Salt.
What sizes and lead time?
100 g, 250 g, 500 g, 1000 g and 5000 g, shipped in 4–6 working days with IFRA certificate, allergen declaration and Safety Data Sheet.
